National General Insurance hiring event for 50 openings in Cleveland is Sept. 1

CLEVELAND, Ohio -- National General Insurance is having an open house and hiring event Tuesday to fill about 50 positions.

The event is 6 to 8 p.m. at the company's downtown office, 800 Superior Ave. A leadership team will have an informational session at 6 p.m.

Some openings are for insurance service representatives, whose duties include answering customers' questions about existing policies. National General is also hiring claims service consultants, whose duties include handling existing claims. There are also openings for claims representatives, whose duties include investigating the facts of loss and determining coverage and liability.

Job interviews will be conducted at the event. Prospective candidates should bring three copies of their resumes and wear business attire.

National General is an auto, home and health insurance company with more than 600 employees in downtown Cleveland.

Insurance service representative -- Previous customer service and/or insurance experience preferred. Must be proficient in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel and Outlook. Must be able to type 30 words per minute while speaking with customers.

Claims service consultant -- Previous customer service and/or insurance experience is preferred. An associate or bachelor's degree or equivalent related to customer service experience is preferred. Must type 30 words per minute.

Claims representative -- Bachelor's degree or 2 to 3 years of relevant claims or customer service experience required. Must obtain and maintain appropriate licensing or complete educational requirements. Must successfully complete the Claims Training Program.

Which MyCare Ohio plans do you (Cleveland Clinic) accept?

At this time, Cleveland Clinic is participating with United Healthcare’s, Caresource’s (through August 31, 2017) and Buckeye’s MyCare Ohio health plans. In addition, we are exploring participating in the Aetna and Molina health plans.

Since Cleveland Clinic is a participating provider, does that mean my physician is participating?

All physicians directly employed by Cleveland Clinic are participating. The MyCare Ohio insurance plan you joined will be able to tell you which other physicians in your area are participating, including those who are affiliated with Cleveland Clinic, but not employed by us. Your plan’s phone number should be on the back of your ID card.

I signed up for Molina or Aetna as part of MyCare Ohio. Can I come to the Cleveland Clinic for care?

At this time, Cleveland Clinic is not a participating provider with these health plans, although we are exploring contracting with them. Until that takes place, care received at Cleveland Clinic will not be covered by Molina or Aetna.

If I have already chosen my MyCare Ohio plan, can I change it?

  • If you are covered by both Medicare and Medicaid and choose to receive Medicare services through MyCare Ohio, you may change your health plan every month.
  • If you are covered only by Medicaid, you may change your MyCare Ohio plan only within the first 90 days after first enrolling into MyCare—and then again during the annual open enrollment period.

When does my MyCare Ohio plan take effect?

MyCare Ohio plans become effective on the following dates:

  • May 1, 2014: Northeast region (counties of Cuyahoga, Geauga, Lake, Lorain, Medina)
  • June 1, 2014: Northwest region (counties of Fulton, Lucas, Ottawa, Wood)
